KATHERINE FICHTHORN

Katherine Fichthorn has been collecting and arranging objects since she was young, drawn to the way these collections can tell compelling stories. This approach informs her work as she creates paintings, drawings, and collages—a collection of marks, colors, and shapes that come together to evoke deeper meaning.

Her creative process is rooted in observation, memory, and imagination, blending images from her past with the limitless possibilities of her mind. A key aspect of Katherine’s work is the joy she finds in discovering unexpected surprises within the paintings themselves.

Recently, Katherine has been exploring the concept of memory in her art, creating paintings that capture snapshots of moments from her past. The idea that memories fade over time and lose their specific details has become a driving force in this series, where each piece merges the fading clarity of memory with the vibrant life of her imagination.

Katherine’s work is joyful, often quiet, and sometimes tinged with humor, inviting viewers to connect with the sensations and emotions evoked by each piece. She holds an MFA from the Studio School in New York.
