Laura Barr‘s work is distinguished by rich color, simplified form and light made material. Barr works in oil on canvas, oil pastel and gouache. Her influences include David Hockney, Wayne Thiebaud, Edward Hopper, Fairfield Porter and Alex Katz, as well as Barnet Rubenstein with whom she studied at Tufts University’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She also holds a degree in Art History from Tufts University and studied at the Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy. In additional to painting and drawing, Laura has worked as a graphic designer. Her work has been exhibited at Prince Street Gallery, New York, NY, as well as at other galleries in the Northeast, and is in many private collections. She currently spends most of her time in Connecticut and Maine.
